The College Counseling Program at Charleston Collegiate School empowers and guides students through their decisions about higher education and beyond. The program offers an individualized, collaborative approach that honors each student’s unique path while fostering the creativity, curiosity, and confidence needed to thrive beyond CCS.

Our Approach to College Counseling
We begin the college counseling journey in middle school by helping students explore their interests, develop study skills, and understand the connection between their current learning and future opportunities. Through age-appropriate activities, students begin to envision their potential paths while building the academic habits and self-awareness that will serve them throughout high school.
Freshmen focus on academic transition, course selection guidance, and beginning to explore interests through extracurricular involvement. We introduce the four-year planning process and help students understand how their choices impact future opportunities.
Sophomores engage in deeper interest exploration, preliminary standardized test preparation (PSAT), and begin researching potential career paths. We support students in taking on leadership roles and expanding their academic challenges through honors and AP coursework.
Juniors receive comprehensive support for standardized testing (SAT/ACT), college research and visits, and building their application profiles. We work closely with families to create preliminary college lists and understand the application timeline ahead.
Seniors receive guidance with applications, essays, interviews, and scholarship and financial aid. We provide ongoing support through the decision-making process, ensuring students make informed choices about their post-secondary plans.

We welcome you to our campus this fall to meet with our students beginning the last week of August. We have two convenient time slots available for college visits throughout the week:
Morning Session: 11:50 AM – 12:35 PM
Afternoon Session: 3:00 PM – 3:45 PM
To schedule your visit, please use your SCOIR scheduling system, which makes booking your visit quick and convenient. If the time slots available don’t work with your travel schedule, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our teachers are flexible and willing to allow students to miss some class time to connect with college representatives.
